The Margaret Jackson Centre Afternoon/evening Reception Volunteer
The Margaret Jackson Centre is a low-cost counselling centre which aims to
make good quality counselling affordable for those who need it.
Our day staff leave between 4 and 5pm and we need a reception worker to work
from 4.00pm to 6.45pm on a Tuesday. The volunteers who work in this role ensure
that we are able to keep our service operating at low-cost. Without their help we
would have to take on more staff and this would mean an increase in the cost of
counselling sessions.
The Reception Volunteer will meet clients and inform their counsellor that they
have arrived. We have a small bookshop in the reception room and occasionally
people want to buy a book.
This is a relatively quiet post, as there is an hour between appointments and
reception is quiet in this time. It suits someone who wants to make a contribution
to our work, but also offers the opportunity for the person to bring with them some
reading or studying which they can do in the time between appointments.
The person needs a friendly and welcoming manner and an ability to maintain confidentiality.
